Comments: Dr. Ignacio Ponseti, It is a pleasure to email you and personally thank you for your lifelong work with children to improve their quality of life with this method. It has been 1 year and 1 month since we were able to travel as a family to receive our adopted son, Jude (Xin Sha Ji), from Xinjiang Province, China. He was born with bilateral clubfoot and had received no form of surgery, casting, or bracing prior to his adoption into our family. He did receive physical therapy in China starting at 12 months of age, once a week, for stretching exercises until Dec. 2004; Jude's date of birth is 3-1-03. Once in the United States we were able to arrange an appt. with Dr. Novick under the supervision of Dr. Grogen in Tampa, Florida at Shriner's Hospital for Children. He began serial casting on Feb. 10th and on April 30th had heel cord lengthening surgery. Another set of casts were applied immediately following surgery and kept on for 3 weeks and on May 22nd the wearing of the foot abduction brace (FAB) began. Jude wore the brace 23/7 for 3 months and on July 22nd, Jude offically began wearing his FAB 14/7. I am a member of the Nosurgery4clubfoot yahoo group and was able to gain access and information regarding your email address and suggestions for photo angles so that you may be able to review Jude's progress thus far. I know that Dr. Novick is pleased with Jude's progress, but it would be an honor to get the opinion from the one and only Dr. Ponseti himself. We are so pleased with Jude's progress. Jude began the casting process at nearly 24 months old and finally receiving the brace at nearly 30 months of age. Truly amazing!! In this webpage, there are four cases of children born with clubfeet: 1-Iago´s case: He was treated by Drs. Ponseti and Morcuende (Iowa) when he was 1 year old. 2-José´s case: He was treated also by Drs. Comments: I am so thankful for your website. The checklist for parents is what alerted me to the fact that the method my doctor was using was not the Ponseti method. Comments: My son has right club foot on 10/10/02. He was casted at 6 days old, had the tenotomy, then braces full time and now only wears them at night. He has done wonderful with the ponseti method - Praise the Lord!!!! He is now almost 10 months old and is taking 7 to 10 steps at a time. He received his treatment at the Shriners Hospital in Lexington, KY. It is a 5 hour drive from our house, but has been worth every second on the road. Anyone facing this situation should really consider the Ponseti Method, we have tried and tested and proven it true.

Comments: Are you sure the Schulthess Clinic in Switzerland is doing things properly? I mean, they are not on Dr.Ponseti's list and Dr. Morcuende could only judge by pictures on the website whether their results are o. k. He stated however that they only got to 50 to 60 degrees instead of the 70 degrees, which he feels is better to avoid recurrences. Incidentally, the Swiss are expensive, too: SF 10.000 to 20.000 per feet!!! Fürther, there is a young doctor in Hamburg, Germany, who made the German translations at Dr. Ponseti's website. He was trained in Maryland, by Dr. Herzenberg. He has not been to Iowa so far, and nobody from Dr. Ponseti's team has seen his work, but he offers Ponseti treatment in Germany, and is currently the only one in this country. I would also like to mention that our son was treated by Dr. Ponseti in March 2003, and I've written a testimonial on that. It is in German, but maybe it is nevertheless of interest to you?
