Nursing a clubfoot baby is pretty much the same as nursing one without clubfeet. You are going to use the same holds as you would normally use, and all the tricks you've learned for nursing already such as holding baby high and chest to chest, or using side lying positions and nursing pillows. The main thing is that once BnB comes, you've got a bar to deal with as well. This is pretty simple to sort out, especially if you just stick your arm through the legs and hold baby like normal. Side lying nursing is about the same, but you can prop your kiddo's upper leg against your body and both of you get some rest.
- – Make use of your nursing pillow. Prop baby up with anything you need to, or on that pillow.
- – Hold high and put your arm through the legs of both casted baby as well as bracing baby.
- – Side lying works great, just put baby in the crook of your arm and prop their legs against you. Or prop the upper foot while bracing against your hip/belly.
- – Keep using your C-grasp and let baby take it all in. That hurts way less than if you don't. Repeat as needed. Even 20 times.
