The purple legs is a phenomenon that happens to many cf kiddos fresh out of casts. It is not well understood, nor is it detrimental. In a couple/few weeks or will go away and never occur again.
Sorry, there's no real info on why it happens, it just does. Because it isn't known to have any detrimental results, there's no interest in sorting out why it happens.

In all seriousness however. Just hold baby as makes you and baby comfortable. The purple legs won't persist.
I liked arm through the legs at the crotch, then you can hold baby across your chest and the legs aren't hanging down. It could make for less purple moments perhaps?
There is a range of blue-purple that clubfeet surprise us with.
Other feet don’t illuminate with these hues of blue. But those who do are never emergent or detrimental. Meaning, blue/purple legs and feet are not an emergent issue. There are no known known detriments to purple legs and feet in association with Ponseti casting and bracing.
Some feet and legs turn purple, while others don’t.
This almost always dissipates. If you do the blanching test, you will verify circulation.
This is not explained yet. Although it has not been associated with anything, ever so far.
It is an unexplained thing in relation to cf, that had not been associated with anything otherwise.

Press, they turn white. Then when released they are returning to normal color quickly.
If it takes a moment, that is suspect.
