Stretching and Massage After Clubfoot Correction

Dr. Ponseti never recommended stretches. He felt that the feet got all the stretch they needed through barefoot play. Stretches can be painful for your child after the tenotomy, and research shows that the tendon doesn't heal earlier than 12 weeks post op. Do not ask your child to do stretching that causes pain, but once the tendon is healed you can do gentle stretching exercises that can improve your child's dorsiflexion.
